The National Gallery is the largest art museum in Bulgaria. It has the richest collection of Christian art, some of the best achievements of Bulgarian masters from the Bulgarian Revival to the present day, exemplars of European art (15th.–20th. centuries) and unique artworks from Asia, Africa, and America.
The Gallery unites: Kvadrat 500, where its representative exposition is on display; the former Palace on 1, Knyaz Alexander I Sq.; the Museum of Christian Art in the crypt of St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral; the Museum of Socialist Art on 7, Lachezar Stanchev St.; Sofia Arsenal – Museum of Contemporary Art on 2, Cherni Vrah Blvd., and the House Museums of Vera Nedkova, Nikola Tanev, Ivan Lazarov, and Alexander Bozhinov.
