Explore the grounds of Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Landmark #1, the location of one of the oldest residences in Los Angeles County. The Adobe is the recreated functioning ranch of the "King of Calabasas," Miguel Leonis. As you walk the rooms of the fully restored and furnished Monterey-style adobe house, you will return to an era of an 1800s California rancho. Miguel Leonis was a six-foot-four French Basque and Espiritu Chijulla Leonis was his Chumash Native American common law wife. The property also has livestock authentic to the period - including Merino sheep, Longhorn cattle, Percheron horses, Angora and Nubian goats and chickens. Guests will spend time immersed in an era that is a must-see for anyone interested in California history.
